Leadership Portland Spotlight: Amy Lewin

Leadership Portland Spotlight: Amy Lewin

Name: Amy Lewin
Company: Portland Business Alliance
Job: Vice President, Strategic Communications

Why Amy got involved in Leadership Portland:
Before I joined the staff of Portland Business Alliance, I had heard just a little about Leadership Portland. (Ironically, I had no idea it was a program of the Alliance!) It piqued my interest, mostly because of my love for civic engagement.

Now as a staff member, I jumped at the opportunity to join the amazing class of 2020. We are learning more together about what's working in our community, and where there is a need for deeper engagement and understanding of solutions to keep Portland thriving.

Not only do I hope to gain a few new friends, but also a better, more robust understanding of where I can contribute my strengths and expertise to advocate for a stronger, more thriving and connected region.

Why it’s important:
Every day we have the opportunity to step in and make a difference. We all have the opportunity to lead. This program helps deepen our understanding on where a little effort can go a long way. Whether it's tackling homelessness issues, mental health crisis or improving access to education and skills development for the next generation, there's a place for everyone in advocating for the significant issues our region faces. Leadership development helps encourage this.

Why Amy loves the Portland region:
My favorite thing about Portland is the Columbia River Gorge or anywhere the water runs through the land.

Fun Fact:
I love working with people to make something good. Whether that's gardening with my family, volunteering at my daughter's school, or taking my dog to visit a memory care facility. If I can make our community a little better, a little brighter, feel a little more connected, I'm all in.
