Liza Dossick of Banfield Pet Hospital shows her commitment to New Avenues for Youth

Name: Liza Dossick
Company: Banfield Pet Hospital
Job: Internal Communications Specialist

What She Did: Liza Dossick, an internal communications specialist at Banfield Pet Hospital, is proud to work for a company that shares the same values as her. In addition to her work at Banfield, she has been an active volunteer with New Avenues for Youth, serving on the ambassador board since July 2016. As a company that is committed to using its size and scale for good, it was no surprise Banfield jumped at the opportunity to partner with New Avenues when Liza joined the board.

Thanks to the partnership brought about by Liza’s volunteerism, Banfield donated preventive care kits to New Avenues youth who have pets to make sure they’re getting the care they need. Liza’s team at Banfield also joined her on several occasions to serve breakfast to youth at the New Avenues drop-in center.

Why It's Important: “From a young age, volunteering and giving back to my community has been an important part of my life,” said Liza. “I dedicate my time to New Avenues because I stand behind their holistic approach to preventing youth homelessness and believe that everyone deserves equal opportunity to realize their potential, and lead a healthy and productive life. As someone who has always been supported in pursuit of my goals, I feel it's only right to do the same for those who haven't.”

Organization Supported: New Avenues for Youth’s mission is to work in partnership with our community to prevent youth homelessness, and provide young people experiencing or at-risk of homelessness the resources and skills needed to lead healthy, productive lives. Since 1997, the nonprofit’s programs and services have impacted more than 20,000 young people as they work to overcome barriers, pursue their goals and realize their potential.
