The Portland Business Alliance offers both international and national trade missions to build business relationships for Portland-area companies.

Business in Washington, D.C.

Each year, the Alliance organizes a trip to Washington, D.C., in partnership with the Oregon Business Plan, for member business leaders to meet with the Oregon and SW Washington congressional delegations, as well as representatives of the administration.

ALLIANCE TRADE MISSIONS

In an effort to stregthen the region's trade relationships, the Alliance and PNITA organize trade missions to strategic partner countries. To date, trade missions have included China, Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom and France, and most recently, Vietnam.

VIETNAM MISSION: 2016

In November of 2016, a delegation of business and government leaders traveled to Vietnam in an effort to learn how to support existing business relationships, and expand job development and education opportunities for Vietnam and Oregon. The group went to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City visiting major traded-sector companies based in Oregon with locations in Vietnam. The delegation also learned about the history of international business in Vietnam, and how to establish business and trade opportunities in the country.

UNITED KINGDOM & FRANCE MISSION: 2015

In June of 2015, a delegation of business leaders traveled to Paris and London. The group had an opportunity to visit a Precision Castparts facility and attend the Paris Air Show. While in London, the group met with businesses in technology and wood building architecture, learning about cross-laminated timber industry which stands to revitalize Oregon’s timber industry. View the trip flyer.

BRAZIL MISSION: 2012

In December of 2012, a group of business and government leaders participated in a twelve-day trip to Brazil in an effort to learn about the potential for greater business development between Oregon and Brazil. The group started the trip in São Paulo and then traveled through cities such as Curitiba, Belo Horizonte, and Rio de Janeiro. Highlights: Meeting Oregon companies doing business in Brazil and a cable-car ride to the top of Sugar Loaf. View the trip flyer.

GERMANY MISSION: 2011

In March of 2011, a delegation of business and government leaders traveled to Germany and explored cities such as Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. They visited German parent companies like adidas and Daimler and learned about the long-standing relationship between the Oregon University System and Germany. View the trip flyer.

CHINA MISSION: 2009

The Alliance organized a trade mission to China in 2009 to learn more about the connection between China and Oregon. The group split the eight-day trip between Shanghai and Beijing, spending four days in each city. Highlights: Visiting Oregon companies such as Nike and Intel in China, touring the Great Wall and touring Portland firms that have green building projects in Beijing. View the trip flyer.
