SIDEWALK AMBASSADOR (TEMPORARY JUNE - SEPT.)
Do you love Downtown Portland? Want to help visitors experience all the great things about downtown? Downtown Sidewalk Ambassadors are walking concierges responsible for providing visitors and local alike with highly visible and friendly world-class hospitality. We are a customer service focused group that is seeking individuals who are not afraid to approach strangers on the street to provide information and wayfinding, have a good knowledge of downtown Portland, and live an active lifestyle.
We are part of the downtown community and strive to keep downtown clean and safe, as well as connect with businesses. We provide ongoing training including site visits to museums and attractions to obtain firsthand knowledge of the things that make Portland appealing to visitors and locals alike.
This is not a sales or solicitation position. You are not collecting signatures. You are providing personalized and authentic recommendations to visitors and community members downtown.
Our schedule is Wednesday to Sundays 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. During your shift you have freedom to plan your day within your walking district, and assist visitors and community members with directions, information on what is open, food recommendations, and shopping suggestions. A day as an Ambassadors looks like this: morning round up with team, walking in all weather conditions upwards of 5 to 7 miles, and working a kiosk shift. The time at the kiosk allows you to trip plan for visitors, and to disseminate information about local events.
The Sidewalk Ambassador should be a proven self-starter and possess clear, concise, and proven communication skills. They would ideally possess a wealth of knowledge about downtown Portland. They must possess excellent customer service skills.
Please note: Sidewalk Ambassadors spends a significant amount of time outdoors. In the course of duties employee may walk five to seven miles a day. Requirements include the ability to bend, lift, and remain standing and walking for the duration of the shift. It also requires the ability to lift 25 lbs., push carts and setup our mobile Kiosk station. Fulfilling these outdoor tasks, the employee is exposed to sun, dust, and extremes in temperature and or humidity.
We are looking to hire seven Sidewalk Ambassadors.
