Help Feed Portland’s Hungry Students

Help Feed Portland’s Hungry Students

Portland Business Alliance’s Education and Career Readiness Committee met in June with representatives from Portland Public School’s (PPS) to learn more about the impact COVID-19 is having on our city’s most vulnerable students.

Our Education and Career Readiness Committee Chair, Craig Wilcox, is encouraging members to answer the call to help:

Hunger does not take a break. Shortly after Portland Public Schools' closed its buildings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Fund for Portland Public Schools, the district nonprofit, quickly mobilized to establish the Coronavirus Relief Fund. This community resource was created to help families meet their basic needs and to facilitate distance learning while school buildings were closed. On behalf of the Education and Career Readiness Committee at Portland Business Alliance, we call on you all to be inspired and help bring valuable resources to PPS students and families in need.

While the latter part of the 2019-2020 school year was met with emergency response efforts, PPS is still planning for the upcoming school year in our new coronavirus reality. As the fall approaches and times remain uncertain, we know the need will continue.

Consider making a donation to the Coronavirus Relief Fund today. Each donation made during summer months will support direct relief efforts and academic support for PPS students and families this fall.

If you are interested in making a larger impact on the community, consider joining one of the Portland Business Alliance policy committees. For more information, please email Kiley Wilson at [email protected].
