Celebrating those who advance the next generation of women leaders

Announcing the 2019 honorees of A Place With No Ceiling
PORTLAND, Ore. – Today, the Portland Business Alliance announced special honorees for women in leadership: Nancy Stueber, president of Oregon Museum of Science & Industry (OMSI), nonprofit Adelante Mujeres and consumer-centric health care company Cambia Health Solutions. All honorees will be recognized at the annual celebration, A Place With No Ceiling on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Oregon Historical Society.
This special event celebrates, connects and inspires women in the business community by honoring a female executive and organizations that support, mentor and foster the advancement of women.
“From first-year professionals to the board room, we are incredibly proud of those who help women succeed in the workplace and foster a vision of a place with no ceiling,” said Jessica Getman, president of Brown & Brown Northwest Insurance, board member and event committee chair for the Portland Business Alliance.
Award winners were selected by committee and include:
- Nancy Stueber, President of OMSI, will receive the Sandra K. McDonough Leadership Award for her outstanding commitment to the professional development of women. As the leader of OMSI for two decades, she has developed exhibits for girls to engage with STEAM topics (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), promoted equal representation of women on OMSI’s board of trustees – which is now comprised of 55% women and 50% of women in leadership positions – and she created the position of Chief Operating Officer, which allowed for the mentorship and elevation of a woman into an executive leadership role.
- Adelante Mujeres was selected as an organization award winner because of its dedication to the education and empowerment of Latina women and their families. Beyond its mission to further the development of young women, all of members of its senior leadership are women, 83% of staff identify as women of color, and 86% of board members are women.
- Cambia Health Solutions was selected as an organization award winner because it not only has a strong presence of women in leadership positions and unique programs to foster the advancement of its female employees, but for three years in a row it has received a perfect score on the Corporate Equity Index.
