As a member there are many ways to get involved in the Alliance, whether you are a young professional, a small business owner, a major employer or a person who simply wants to lend a hand.

Advocacy

Develops and reviews public policy proposals related to all levels of the education continuum, with a focus on K-12 (common core implementation), CTE/STEM education, post-secondary education and workforce development to meet business needs. Meets quarterly.

Develops and reviews public policy proposals related to the broad range of local and regional land use issues. Meets quarterly.
Chair: William Rasmussen, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP
Serves as a forum for members to interact with elected and community leaders, as well as identify policy issues that impact business. Meets quarterly.
Chair: Dan Field, Kaiser Permanente
Develops and reviews public policy proposals related to a broad range of transportation topics: freight mobility, transit, projects, policies, and funding. Meets every other month.

Small Business

Serves as a forum for small business members to hear from government agencies regarding new programs and policies and provides an opportunity to stay informed on public policy issues. Meets monthly.
David Chown, Chown Hardware

Downtown Vitality

Provides leadership in maintaining the appearance, safety and function of the Central City to keep it clean, safe and attractive. Committee chair is a member of the Alliance's board and its Executive Committee. Meets monthly.
Chair: TBD
Conducts cooperative retail promotions. Oversees implementation of the Downtown Retail Strategy and represents the collective interests of downtown retailers to elected governmental bodies. Members must be restaurateurs, hoteliers or retailers inside the downtown Clean & Safe District. Meets monthly.

Develops and reviews Central City public-safety oriented initiatives, policies and programs. Meets as needed.

Sustainability

Provides an avenue for like-minded members to get together to share information and network. The group hears from a featured business and speaker on various topics of sustainability. Meets quarterly.

Alliance Vitality

Plans and develops marketing and communications efforts that support the positioning of the Portland Business Alliance and the general business community; and advises on the Alliance's large-scale events. Committee chair sits on the Alliance's board and Executive Committee. Meets monthly.

Council members act as membership mentors to new members and assist in member retention. Members also serve as event Ambassadors. Eligibility begins after six months of membership and once the member has attended all events at least once. Meets monthly.

Plans and executes annual women’s event, A Place With No Ceiling, honoring women in business. (Active January - September)

Plans and executes annual Chair's Cup golf tournament and dinner held in the spring. (Active November - June)
