BLOG: Honoring Ed Blackburn of Central City Concern

Yesterday, I joined hundreds of business and community leaders in Portland to honor Ed Blackburn for his service as executive director of Central City Concern (CCC). With Ed’s retirement quickly approaching, I was honored to be asked to share some thoughts about Ed at CCC’s annual luncheon.

I can’t image what this city would be like without Ed Blackburn’s leadership. His laser focus attitude on getting the results, not the glory, is what sets him apart from so many. And that laser focus has enabled thousands of people to live safe, productive lives, off the street.

I want to, again, thank Ed on behalf of the Portland Business Alliance and Downtown Clean & Safe for being such an incredible partner.

At the event, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to present CCC with a $10,000 donation on behalf of the Portland Business Alliance. What was even more moving, was when Alliance board chair, Jim Mark and his wife Jenny Mark, matched that donation. It’s clear that Ed’s leadership has inspired so many to do what they can to make our city a better place for everyone. Thank you, Ed, for making us part of your team.
