Multnomah County Court rules on campaign contribution limits

In early March, the Multnomah County Circuit Court found unconstitutional a ballot measure approved by voters in 2016 changing the county charter to limit campaign contributions in county races. The judge ruled the measure violated the free speech provisions of the Oregon Constitution.

The Alliance joined with Oregon Business and Industry, the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors and Taxpayer Association of Oregon to successfully challenge the measure’s legality. The court’s decision is likely to be appealed.
