About Us

We are Metro Portland’s Chamber of Commerce

Championing Portland’s business community for over 150 years

Portland Metro Chamber is the oldest, largest, and most diverse business organization in Oregon and Southwest Washington, and the leading voice for business in the region.

The Chamber advocates at all levels of government to improve commerce, encourage community development, and grow regional economic prosperity. We also offer a variety of events and programs to connect and foster growth throughout our region’s business community.

New name, same organization—Portland’s chamber of commerce

Founded in 1870, the Chamber has continually evolved in addressing the changing needs of our members and the region. And, over the course of our history, the organization’s moniker has changed a few times, as well: The Portland Trade Board (1870-1890), The Portland Chamber of Commerce (1890-1984), Portland Metropolitan Chamber (1984-2001), and the Portland Business Alliance (2001-2023).

In June 2023, we brought back the Portland Metro Chamber name as the truest reflection of the region we represent, who we are, what we do, and who we serve.

Our strategic focus

Since our founding 150 years ago, the Portland Metro Chamber has proudly and unabashedly advocated on behalf of the region’s businesses and employers.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors regularly reviews and amends the organization’s strategic plan to ensure that our mission, values, and priorities align with the needs of our stakeholders and the community at-large. Our current strategic plan was formally approved in 2023.
