Providence Park to expand

The Portland Timbers announced that Providence Park will undergo a $50 million-plus, privately financed expansion project that will add 4,000 new seats to the stadium. Originally built in 1926 in the downtown core of Portland, the stadium has hosted soccer, football, baseball, dog racing, concerts, ski jumping, presidential visits and more during its 91-year history. The proposed expansion will add a 93-foot high covered structure on the east side of the stadium and will include four levels of reserved and group seating sections to help meet demands.
