Portland State University president set to retire in 2017

Portland State University president, Wim Wiewel, announced he will retire from his position in 2017, after the next academic year. In the nine years he served as president, Wiewel grew Portland State to more than 29,000 students, becoming the most diverse university in Oregon. Wiewel was also instrumental in many advancements at the university, including: spearheading nine major construction projects; paving the way for the university’s first independent Board of Trustees; expanding student support services; developing innovative “reTHINK PSU” initiatives; and implementing a five-year roadmap that charts the future of the university.
