Portland Development Commission becomes Prosper Portland to reflect new focus

On May 10, the Portland Development Commission officially became Prosper Portland, a change that reflects the agency’s shift towards sharing the gains of economic growth equitably. The change further demonstrates the agency’s commitment to achieving the goals laid out in its 2015 five-year plan to achieve widely shared prosperity among residents. Prosper Portland is focused on four key areas to achieve this: 1) growing the number of quality jobs; 2) creating and increasing access to healthy, complete neighborhoods across the city; 3) advancing opportunities for residents to create wealth and prosperity; and 4) partnering and collaborating with public and private sector organizations. The goal is to ensure that all communities benefit from economic growth, especially communities of color and those historically underserved. Learn more at
