Portland Business Alliance recognizes business leaders at Annual Meeting

Event highlights role Oregon business’ play in global marketplace

PORTLAND, Ore. – Today the Portland Business Alliance’s Annual Meeting brought together more than 1,000 business and civic leaders on at the Oregon Convention Center to honor members, volunteers and leaders in the Portland regional business community. As part of the 2015 Year of Trade in Oregon, the event highlighted Oregon’s economic dependence on international trade, featuring as keynoter Tamara Lundgren, president and CEO of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., and current chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. 
 
“Throughout the year, international trade has been a major focus for our organization as legislation around trade agreements, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership and Trade Promotion Authority, reach the U.S. Congress,” said Sandra McDonough, president & CEO of the Portland Business Alliance. “Nearly half a million jobs in Oregon are tied to international trade, and we are excited to recognize it as a bright spot in our economy as well as the role Oregon business’ play in the global marketplace.”
 
During the event, the Alliance recognized Ilene Kleinsorge, dean of Oregon State University School of Business, with the Community Champion Award for her public sector leadership and work to promote business and entrepreneurship in Oregon. Dennis P. Rawlinson, chairman of Miller Nash Graham & Dunn, was honored with the President’s Award for his significant leadership of the Alliance and the Portland business community.
