Greenbrier advocates for federal government to upgrade oil train car safety standards

Greenbrier Companies, a local manufacturer headquarter in Lake Oswego, is lobbying for the federal goverment to adopt new safety standards for oil train cars. The company is lobbying for the country's 68,000 old tank cars to be retrofitted and a higher standard to be set for new cars. Greenbrier currently has the capacity to build 4,000 tank cars a year and is ready to upgrade its fleet as soon as the federal government sets new safety standards.
