City of Portland, Office of Sustainable Development (OSD)
The Office of Sustainable Development provides leadership and supports practical solutions to improve the environmental, social and economic health of Portland. OSD delivers policy and programs that integrate efforts related to energy efficiency, renewable resources, waste reduction and recycling, global warming, green building and sustainable food systems. Businesses can contact OSD for support and advice on how to implement sustainable practices and reduce their environmental footprint.
BEST Business Center
The Best Business Center helps businesses identify opportunities to green their operations. It is a partnership of city and regional government programs and energy utilities, including the City of Portland Office of Sustainable Development, City of Portland Water Bureau, Metro, Pacific Power, Portland Development Commission and Portland General Electric. The BEST Business Center delivers comprehensive, customized business conservation advice and assistance across a wide range of sectors - from energy and water efficiency and transportation to waste reduction, from sustainable purchasing to financing for systems improvements - that help conserve resources.
Cascadia Regional Green Building Council (USGBC)
Cascadia is one of the original chapters of the US Green Building Council. It's territory includes Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Alaska. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that certifies sustainable businesses, homes, hospitals, schools, and neighborhoods. Cascadia is dedicated to expanding green building practices and education, and its LEEDŽ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.
Metro Recycle at Work Program
Metro's Recycle at Work Resource Center offers free tools and assistance to help businesses reduce, reuse and recycle. Request a free on-site evaluation by a business recycling specialist. Find out how to start or expand a waste prevention or recycling program. Get free desk-side recycling containers, posters, presentations and other educational materials.
Natural Step Network
The Oregon Natural Step Network was formed to support Oregon business, governmental, and educational organizations interested in using The Natural Step (TNS) framework for sustainability. The Natural Step Network believes that businesses and organizations can reduce their impact on the environment while enhancing their overall efficiency and effectiveness. The Network is a membership organization open to interested organizations and individuals.
